Media and Communications Specialist
Summary: The Media and Communications Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing communication strategies to promote Workforce Development and Child Care Services (CCS) programs. This role focuses on increasing public awareness, supporting outreach and recruitment goals, and ensuring consistent branding across all digital and print materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage digital media campaigns that highlight Workforce and CCS services, success stories, and community impact.
- Design, update, and distribute marketing materials including flyers, newsletters, brochures, and social media content.
- Maintain the organization’s online presence through the website, social media platforms, and email marketing tools.
- Coordinate media coverage for events, workshops, and community outreach activities.
- Capture and edit photos and videos for use in promotional and training materials.
- Support internal communications by preparing staff announcements, press releases, and community updates.
- Collaborate with program managers to ensure consistent and accurate messaging about RESEA, WIOA, NCP, Choices, SNAP, and CCS services.
- Track engagement metrics, prepare monthly communication reports, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Ensure all public-facing materials align with Board and SERCO branding standards and accessibility guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in media relations, marketing, or public communications, preferably in workforce development, social services, or education.
- Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Suite, or other design platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of social media analytics and content management tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and provide automobile liability insurance as required by the State of Texas.
- Must have access to reliable transportation in order to make required home visits and travel within service area.

- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing duties of the job, employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; for long periods of time. Employee must be able to drive for extended periods of time. Employees must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, must be able to set up display area.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast paced, demanding physically and mentally, will be in constant communications.
